Bookshelf'

Telefonzellen

World Book Day: bedtime reading still going strong

Reading remains an integral part of the night time routine, with 7 in 10 children encouraged to enjoy a book before going to sleep, research from Sainsbury’s has found. Celebrating the nation’s week of reading, the poll of 2,000 parents revealed that the vast majority will make time to regularly read to their children (71%). In fact, more than 10 million families will sit down for story-time every day.

Interestingly it isn’t only bedtime when children are enjoying reading, the results show that parents recognise the value of spare time between activities, with 67% being encouraged to catch up on their favourite books during long car journeys, in sports centres, and on public transport.
