The materials used are birchwood for the shelf structure, maple wood for the center resting rod, rubber beneath the base for better grip on the floor or desk. The night lamp has a LED light, the intensity of which can be controlled for user customization.

Book trench

Due to the north-east monsoon, waves greatly reach and moisten the oceanic trenches of northern Taipei, Taiwan from March to May, which propagates the growth of the seaweed. The design aims to capture the image of such an unique landscape. The green and parallel trenches were turned into well-proportioned bookshelf, creating multiple spaces to place books of varied sizes.

To be or not to be: Science library in the Pavilion of Knowledge, Lisbon

The intention was to have a sense of 'discovery' when entering in this room, to find the books we have to walk along the space. We deliberately wanted to conceal the books in order to avoid the normal bookshelf image of libraries. The contrast between the black on one side and the white on the other, emphasizes the notion of being or not being. Two words are placed on the white surfaces of the shelves, "library" and "investigate", and encyclopedia definitions, such as "to question", "to know", etc in Portuguese and English.
