Library

Wood & powdercoated steel. Made by FBJ Inventar-snedkeren & BCI. Photo: Jeppe Gudmundsen Holmgreen. Library is an extension of FBJ's core product line furniture for receptions, offices and banks. A room divider, a cosy nook, a shot of homeliness with a sloping ceiling that can be tiled with books or magazines. The book ends offer storage space for magazines, a graphic deviation in the room, which can be used to create order or chaos. Library is made in classic ash to give the storage a warm glow.

Carlisle Bay

Library as disco at Carlisle Bay, Antigua. Gordon Campbell Gray’s resort has brought the island 21st-century zing. See-through glass walls pulsate with violet, rose, and lime lighting in the evening. The books are pristine new publications and frequently replaced—not dog-eared, suntan-oiled paperbacks left behind by previous guests.

T.shelf

T.shelf is an abreviation for Triangle shelf. It is a unique shelving system that can be setup around your existing furniture, or can be just hanging by itself on a wall as a sculptural object. The concept was to create furniture for modern nomatic culture. It is easy to setup and pack flat for space saving transportation. The first approach was to get rid of screws. This also gets rid of the tools in assembling furniture.
It turns out to be a triangle shelf that uses cable and zipties to tie every triangle into one piece of furniture/sculpture and functions as displaying books, magazines, plants, picutres, or anything you want to display.materials : birch plywood , steel cable, ziptie

Wood x Plastic

As the confrontational title suggests, sheets of smoke-coloured acrylic are impaled by beech poles to construct a shelf. First a small hole is made in the acrylic sheet and is heated for an exact duration. The wooden pole is then pushed through sheet by sheet. When the plastic cools down, it contracts around the pole to create a vice-like grip. This is repeated, resulting in a strong and stable structure. Therefore this product is about bringing joinery back into the foreground, where the honesty and technique of process makes the Design. Hunn Wai

Barack Obama's Oval Office bookshelves

One of Barack Obama's first tasks as president will be to redecorate the Oval Office. The Guardian asked some top designers and architects to tackle the job. Bookcases have been added to either side of the fireplace to communicate the idea that this is a literate presidency. All the furniture, including the previous president's desk, has been replaced by a large round table, suggesting that the participants in meetings and discussions are equal. The globe of the world can be used as a learning aid for any official unsure of the difference between a continent and a country.

Procontra Mini

The shelf has always been essential to every interior. As time has marched on, the styles of shelfs and storage-systems may have been transformed, but their nature still remains the same. This furniture generates an object with a new spirit, which merges with our modern requirements, it allows a flexible use of space. A shelf let transform a sculpture, just out of two different parts.

Rafters

Yes, these are just planks of painted plywood nailed to the supports for the loft above. They create perfect cubby spaces to store books, baskets and even small lights. Since we're in California, it would probably be a good idea to secure everything in place so it doesn't shake right off.

Jay Walker's library

Walker's house was constructed specifically to accommodate his massive library. To create the space, which was constructed in 2002, Walker and architect Mark Finlay first built a 7-foot-long model. Then they used miniature cameras to help visualize what it would be like to move around inside. In a conscious nod to M. C. Escher (whose graphics are echoed in the wood tiling), the labyrinthine platforms seem to float in space, an illusion amplified by the glass-paneled bridges connecting the platforms. Walker commissioned decorative etched glass, dynamic lighting, and even a custom soundtrack that sets the tone for the cerebral adventures hidden in this cabinet of curiosities. "I said to the architect, 'Think of it as a theater, from a lighting and engineering standpoint,'" Walker says. "But it's not a performance space. It's an engagement space."

Movement Bookcase

A rusty and bent nail doesn’t have any reason for being. But the nails begin to inform me about their valuable being widely as soon as the book is laid on the useless nails. When they’ve met their trunk called the book, they were able to get a significant life force as arms and legs of our body after all.

Renaissance Carved Bookcase

A spectacular bookcase is hand-carved with angels or cherubs, devils, monks, griffins and a lion head. The artistry in solid walnut is in high relief, masterfully carved with bold and energetic strokes and vivid imagery. There is slight wear to the original finish from about 1890, and the warm patina is wonderful. This antique furniture is actually 3 separate stacking pieces for easy handling. Old and wavy glass in the doors appears original, inside, carved shelves are adjustable on wooden supports. Traditional European Renaissance style craftsmanship is evident all over this heroic bookcase or display cabinet. Measurements are 44" wide, 26" deep and 8' 10" tall.

Inverted bookshelf

The inverted bookshelf turns a bit of your living room upside down as it hangs all of the books from the bottom instead of supporting them from below. It's a satisfying optical trick and doesn't damage any of the books. In fact, you can take books in and out of it whenever you want.
